Ken Block's Gymkhana Tour 2011 in Los Angeles

Over the past weekend I was lucky enough to gain admission to the Los Angeles stop of Ken Block's Gymkhana Tour Los Angeles. This was a free event sponsored by DC Shoes, Monster Energy, Ford, Mobil 1, and GoPro cameras. Ken Block was out doing Gymkhana demonstrations above the Think Blue sign as well as freestyle motocross riders on the ramps. Thank you to Shutter Velocity for the chance to witness the event. I love drifting, but between the Gymkhana course and the motocross riders, this was definitely a new experience all together.

Haven't done any video work in years, so I'm messing around with some stuff at the moment. Here's the first one.

They did WHAT to KITT?

From This:
To This:
As a child of the 80's, I was somewhat stoked when I heard that they were bringing Knight Rider back (again). It has been attempted before over the years, notably with the TV Movie "Knight Rider 2000" as well as the awful "Team Knight Rider" series. Now it's back, again.

More so, I was excited when I heard KITT was now going to be a Shelby GT500KR. As an avid Mustang fan and owner of a 2007 GT500, I found the prospect of seeing a car similar to mine on the TV doing all sorts of crazy stunts to be my own form of "Mustang Porn". Yes, I am a car nut.

The TV movie came and went, and it was actually quite entertaining. Action with a side of cheese, I found it to be fun and in line with the spirit of the original.

This week, NBC released the First Episode of the new Series online through outlets such as iTunes and Hulu. I gave it a view, and the feelings are mixed. The first 10 minutes is way too corny, at least compared to the movie they made as a precursor. KITT had a slightly over the top Pursuit Mode in this movie, as in the original. Now, he transforms into the abomination seen above, referred to as Turbo Boost Mode. Hmm. Did I mention it also transforms into a Ford F-150? The second half was better, and was slightly more believable. Stay tuned to see how this one fares both with the Critics and in the Ratings.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Cast Appearance

The Cast from FOX's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was out in Hollywood on September 13, 2008 to promote the show at Golden Apple Comics. Lena Headey (Sarah Connor) was unfortunately absent, however, the rest of the Cast more than made up for her absence.

Brian Austin Green, Garret Dillahunt, Summer Glau, Thomas Dekker, Leven Rambin, Richard T. Jones, and Shirley Manson were there to meet and greet the fans, as well as sign autographs and participate in a Q&A session. The Q&A followed an early viewing of Episode 2x02, "Automatic for the People".
It was very exciting to meet the Cast, as well as being able to watch a new Episode before it was aired. Everyone was very friendly and looked like they were having just as much fun as the fans.

Be sure to catch Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Monday Nights at 8pm on FOX.

Iron Man

Despite being somewhat well-versed in the Marvel Universe, I never actually read an Iron Man comic. I was familiar with the character, and did some homework on the Net prior to seeing the movie, but was far from an expert on the character.

I wound up seeing it last night at the Arclight in Hollywood, CA. They have both Stark's Audi RS8 and a screen-worn suit on display. Always cool to see actual film used props and vehicles. I'm a sucker for 'Behind the Scenes' type stuff.

As for the movie itself, I thought it was amazing. It looked like it would be a winner from the trailers, but the movie far surpassed my expectations. It's right up there with Batman Begins for me in terms of QUALITY Superhero movies. Surprisingly, this list is quite small. I'm looking forward to more of this character on the Big Screen for sure.

I would check it out even if you are only remotely interested in the film. Robert Downey Jr. owned this role where so many others would have failed. Very enjoyable on many levels, and a definite adrenaline rush. This Summer is looking to be a big one for Downey Jr.
